Colleen Copelan, MD

A board-certified psychiatrist and a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry in Camarillo, California.

She uses integrative psychiatry in order to develop a comprehensive treatment plan, working in conjunction with a patient's doctors, pediatricians, and nutritionists, as necessary. She has expertise in helping with a broad range of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, including eating disorders in teens and believes in providing an intensive outpatient program in order to avoid hospitalization.

Mision Statement

Accurate, immediate diagnosis of mental illness in youth is the center of my practice. Compassion, acceptance, respect, medical/psychiatric skills all intersect to allow the patient to begin a lasting and hopeful journey of lasting recovery.

I see each and every youth through the lens of compassion, acceptance and respect. Critical to success is the involvement of parents in a non judgmental, open environment of psycho-education. Thorough education of parents and patients allows compliance which protends successful outcome. Collaboration with other providers enriches and insures treatment success.

My commitment to Advocacy through my active, continuous involvement in organized medicine is long-lasting and permanent. This commitment reflects my belief that the individual with a mental health diagnosis will be protected and will receive excellence in mental health treatment . Dr. Copelan will try to gain an understanding of you as a person. She'll also need a list of the medications you're currently taking.

Comprehensive Plan

A behavioral and/or medication treatment plan may be prescribed following a thorough evaluation process. In order to ensure successful outcome treatments, Dr. Copelan focuses on psycho education for parents.

Follow-up Appointment

Therapy will likely be ongoing with follow-up appointments to ensure you become and remain healthy.
